Each design by HENDRIXROE founder and creative director Jordan McKay is an extension of her vibrant and exuberant character. Every season captures the loud, fun, and passionate personality behind the brand.
A chance encounter with a complete stranger inspired McKay to leave law school and follow her dreams of becoming a fashion designer. After a successful first season as a womenswear line, HENDRIXROE debuted its inaugural menswear collection in Spring 2017 to an overwhelmingly positive response.
“I nearly fell to my knees when I walked out and it was a standing ovation,” McKay shares.
Designing was always a dream, but it seemed like an impossible one. In that moment, it all became a tangible reality; it was beyond surreal. I was a last-minute addition to the runway schedule. Someone had dropped out and I was called only two weeks prior to the show. It was truly a miracle that I was even there that night, but I was, and my career took flight. Today, I always say ‘When you find your lane, there is no traffic, but there are speed bumps [and] stop signs. But there is no traffic; no one is in your way.’ I’m living proof, and it’s been a wild, magical ride ever since.”
The brand has continued to expand with larger gender-fluid collections and plans to incorporate accessories and children’s clothes in the future.
Inspired by the vintage rock ’n’ roll style of Jimi Hendrix and old Hollywood glamour of Marilyn Monroe, HENDRIXROE exemplifies “glamorous rocker chic” to perfection with close attention to construction, fabric, and silhouettes.
McKay’s designs for HENDRIXROE have commanded attention at numerous red-carpet events for theater, film, and television and have been worn by artists including Christina Aguilera, Cree Summer, Kardinal Offishall, Arkells, Walk off the Earth, and more.
The designer’s obsession with rock ’n’ roll history means HENDRIXROE is well on its way to becoming one of the most sought-after luxury brands in the business.
