Fashion Week El Paseo™ 2016
Designer of the Week 2013
Gilbert A. Chagoury is an independent couturier who was born in Lebanon and raised in Paris. A graduate of the Parsons School of Design, which he attended in both Paris and New York, he began his career at the legendary Christian Dior in Paris.
Five years ago, Chagoury designed a dramatic, intricately detailed gown for wedding of a European heiress. Word spread quickly and he is now regularly commissioned to design gowns for the fashion elite in Paris, the Middle East, New York, and Hollywood, including high profile socialites and celebrities such as Milla Jovovich, Katy Perry, Hayden Panettiere, Eva Longoria, Shenae Grimes, Edie Falco, Niki Taylor, and Laura Vandervoort.
In 2008, actress Natasha Henstridge wore a Chagoury Couture creation at the St. Jude Runway for Life Gala. Today, charitable events are a significant part of his priorities, and have included the Carousel of Hope Ball in Beverly Hills, iGoPink: The Breast Cancer Charities of America, and Go Red For Women.
Chagoury’s runway fashion show in 2010 at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood drew more stars than all the catwalks during LA Fashion Week combined. Since then, his creations have been seen at numerous red carpet events and movie premiers, including the 2011 Golden Globes and the 2011 Art of Elysium Gala, hosted by Vogue magazine, at which Milla Jovovich wore an exclusive Chagoury Couture dress fresh from the runway, and was named one of the ten best-dressed women at the gala by several fashion magazines.
Gilbert A. Chagoury has created a new paradigm in fashion that offers the best of both worlds: French refinement and American sensibilities. He is definitely a name to watch and to wear.
