FIDM Debut 2010
This runway show features fashions from FIDM’s top graduating design students. Ten students presented their complete collections. Wine, hors d’oeuvres, and an “over the top” production.
Julia Nish, a recent Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising grad, was the standout in the FIDM Debut 2010 show, which featured collections by nine of the school's third-year design students.

FIDM Debut 2010 Designers

(Ojai) — contemporary womenswear for the modern geisha, inspired by Japanese costume and the fairy tale The Princess and the Pea.

(Fountain Valley) — a modern and futuristic approach to women's sportswear is inspired by the spirit, lifestyle, and attitude of fashion icon Edie Sedgwick.

(Orinda, Calif.) — dressy sportswear for the spring/summer season incorporating painting directly onto the garments.

(Downey) — a prêt-à-porter collection inspired by late 1930s sportswear, Egyptian hieroglyphics, and Indian kurtas.

(Zambia) — chic sportswear inspired by the Sahara Desert, incorporating rich earth tones, golds, and abstract animal prints.

(Modesto) — a knitwear design student presented her sophisticated sportswear collection. Using natural fibers, her collection is mainly alpaca fleece and wool.

(Charlotte, N.C.) — a collection inspired by the beauty of lingerie, using a mixture of overlapping silhouettes. Lace and hand beading complete her line.

(Guatemala City, Guatemala) — a collection of evening wear, featuring a disparate range of inspirations, including his elegant grandmother, 16th to 18th century Baroque and rococo styles, the House of Christian Dior, and the sensuality of filigree and the human form.
