"Edie"
inspired by
Portraits of the Artists (From Ten from Leo Castelli), 1967 - Andy Warhol
When Edie Sedgwick meets a young artist named Andy Warhol, he promises to make her the star she always wanted to be. And like a super nova she explodes on the New York scene. "Edie" is inspired by the stripes of color and repetition in Portraits of the Artists. One can imagine Edie herself wearing this mod '60s creation during her days at The Factory.
Founded in 1992, Swanson Interior Design Group is located in Palm Desert, CA and Lincoln, NE, serving clients ranging from national developers to high-end, turn key residential; large corporations to local businesses. "Factory Muse"
inspired by
Brillo Box Dress, 1964 - Andy Warhol
"I'd rather buy a dress and put it up on the wall, than put a painting, wouldn't you?"
- Andy Warhol
Andy was becoming quite famous in his series of "grocery carton" sculptures that included the Brillo Box, Heinz ketchup, and Campbell's tomato soup. The Brillo Box Dress is an amazing departure from his box sculptures. Drawing from the creative energy and excitement surrounding Andy during his 1960's days at "The Factory," Factory Muse incorporates the graphic imagery and primary color palette from the brillo box, with a skirt created by cases of actual brillo pads. We think Andy would approve!
