Saks Fifth Avenue kicks off a week of runway shows with the finest women and men’s designer clothes from its spring 2013 collections.

After-party will be held at the Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert for The Best of Saks Fifth Avenue ticket holders. Wine courtesy of Foris and La Merika.

Le Chien Couture Fashion Show featuring Linda Higgins

Benefiting the Humane Society of the Desert, a non-profit, no-kill animal sanctuary and Fashion Group International Inc.
Fashion Week El Paseo™ presents the second annual Le Chien Couture Fashion Show, Saturday, March 16, 2013. Expect to see large and small, pedigree and mutt strutting their stuff on the Fashion Week runway in the Big White Tent. The doggie models will all be decked out in the latest spring fashions by dog couture designer Linda Higgins.
A one-hour cocktail reception precedes the 6 p.m. show with a silent auction, live music and other surprises. Cookies compliments of Bakery Underground.

Style and Beauty Bash

Benefitting local charities.
Be pampered by your favorite salon while preparing for a fabulous week of glamour — Fashion Week El Paseo™! More than 30 hair and makeup professionals are bringing their blow-dryers and powder puffs to raise money for local charities. An Extreme Hair and Makeup Showcase runs throughout the day, plus an exclusive fashion show by emerging designers.
Cost: General admission is free. All salon services are $30.

Fashion Week designer Linda Higgins brings her classic doggie designs from the runway to Cosmopawlitan Café & Boutique for an exclusive trunk show! Join us for mimosa, finger foods and yummy baked treats for the pups. No reservations or tickets required to attend.

Houghton Designer Katharine Polk

Houghton’s head designer, Katharine Polk, debuted her first RTW collection during the 2012 Fall/Winter Fashion Week at New York’s Lincoln Center. Drawing inspiration from Katharine Hepburn, Bianca Jagger, and Patti Smith, Polk designs for the independent woman who desires an effortlessly chic, yet sexy and strong look. Originally from Malibu, Polk graduated from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles and began her career New York City.
A one-hour cocktail reception precedes the 8 p.m. show. Wine served courtesy of James Koch — JK Imports and Pronto.
